Product description INOV-8 Bare-Grip 200 Trail Running Shoes - 10

This is such a low profile shoe that it gives you the sensation of barefoot running but with the qualities of a grippy trail shoe. This shoe is incredibly light and responsive. Uniquely, the ZERO Arrow Shoc-ZoneTM bare-gripTM 200 does not have a midsole, so all the natural power and speed of the foot is transferred directly through the shoe. The closest you can get to barefoot running in a harsh off road trail environment.

  • Sticky Rubber Outsole - ensures you have fantastic grip and traction on all surfaces
  • Performance Last - Precise fitting last ensures minimal internal movement when contouring, ascending and descending.

Switching to barefoot
I over-pronate severely and as I result I ended up working my way through shoes with more and more severe motion control, trying to get rid of nagging injuries. This all blew up in my face when I ended up blistering under the arch of my right foot in a bad way mid race. I finished with a shoe full of blood and a hole in my foot. I now have a large patch of scar tissue under my foot that has blistered almost immediately in every pair of shoes I have tried in the last 5 years. After reading Born to Run by Christopher McDougall I decided to give the barefoot running craze a go. Being wary of injuries and possible risks I have done a fair bit of reading and decided to go for this shoe as it seems to be something of a cross over. Not quite a hard core "barefoot" shoe but still without any motion control or cushioning. I am about 95kg (20 to many) and haven't run in the last 2 years.

First impressions.
These shoes are going get you noticed. They are very bright and the soles...

Awesome shoes for fell running or touch rugby
These shoes are for fell running (cross country/rough terrain) but I bought them for playing touch rugby.

They are now one of my most pleasing purchases ever. I could be happier with their performance. They are so light and flexible they let you run as if you are barefoot but have substantial grip.

I'm not sure how heavy they are but since they don't have a hard sole, they are by far the lightest pair of shoes I've ever owned.

The shoes are extremely flexible which allows you to be very agile. Something most rugby/football shoes are definitely not (since they try to protect your feet from kicking).

The grip is also fantastic. They outperformed all my expectations in playing touch in bad (wet/muddy/slippery) weather conditions. They are made to run through creeks after all.

The only drawback is that the soft rubber grips under the shoes will wear very quickly if you wear them on roads. They also feel kind off weird walking...
