Good Shoe / Poor lace system
This is my second pair of Salomon trail shoes.... the first being very good. This second pair are equally fine, however, be aware of Salomon's 'Quick-lace-system' - it doesn't always work... On the right shoe of the XA Pro 3D shoe it will not stay tight.... after only a few hundred yards the thing loosens off... very frustrating. Have contacted the supplier (SportsShoes) re the issue.... still waiting for response / outcome

Size Matters
I am a size 10 uk I am finding that buying off here etc , the sizes are tight and slightly small, its the same with shirts, jackets etc I am thinking of stopping it, these shoes are ok but not as I would prefer them, not worth sending back tho, the quality is not bad, but I wont be doing it again, and fairplay to Amazon they have a very good return system, but I don't buy things with the intension of returning them.

Not a true walking boot.
Smart looking boot, great for round town and maybe taking the dog for low level walks in the park. Wet grass would be no problem as the Gortex lining is very reliable, feet will stay dry.
From the moment these boots arrived they were very comfortable- straight from the box. and waterproof as claimed, tested them on a beach walk with tide coming in, they got well soaked but never let water in. Next day after shaking off the sand they looked as good as new.
Now comes the downside. completed a 12 mile walk in the Matlock Peak district, up and down hill and dale all day long. The boots are great on low level flat walking but hopeless when it comes to climbing. Ankle support is non existent even though I pulled the laces a little bit tighter to get a bit more support from them, ankles ached at the end of the day. also had a bit of back ache next day so they probably don't do much for your posture either. Biggest problem was toes rubbing when descending steep hills, the boots...

Brilliant...
Bought these because my current trainers were about to give up and I was about to have a crack at my first proper challenge- Viva extreme. Never done anything like it and needed some trail shoes to get me round.

Arrived quickly, comfy as soon as I put them on, looked the part, great grip round the course, no blisters at all after 9 miles and despite them being caked in mud- part of the course was running through waist deep bogs, threw them in the washing machine and they came out as new.

Switching to barefoot
I over-pronate severely and as I result I ended up working my way through shoes with more and more severe motion control, trying to get rid of nagging injuries. This all blew up in my face when I ended up blistering under the arch of my right foot in a bad way mid race. I finished with a shoe full of blood and a hole in my foot. I now have a large patch of scar tissue under my foot that has blistered almost immediately in every pair of shoes I have tried in the last 5 years. After reading Born to Run by Christopher McDougall I decided to give the barefoot running craze a go. Being wary of injuries and possible risks I have done a fair bit of reading and decided to go for this shoe as it seems to be something of a cross over. Not quite a hard core "barefoot" shoe but still without any motion control or cushioning. I am about 95kg (20 to many) and haven't run in the last 2 years.

These shoes are going get you noticed. They are very bright and the soles...

Awesome shoes for fell running or touch rugby
These shoes are for fell running (cross country/rough terrain) but I bought them for playing touch rugby.

They are now one of my most pleasing purchases ever. I could be happier with their performance. They are so light and flexible they let you run as if you are barefoot but have substantial grip.

I'm not sure how heavy they are but since they don't have a hard sole, they are by far the lightest pair of shoes I've ever owned.

The shoes are extremely flexible which allows you to be very agile. Something most rugby/football shoes are definitely not (since they try to protect your feet from kicking).

The grip is also fantastic. They outperformed all my expectations in playing touch in bad (wet/muddy/slippery) weather conditions. They are made to run through creeks after all.

The only drawback is that the soft rubber grips under the shoes will wear very quickly if you wear them on roads. They also feel kind off weird walking...
