Not as big as other Vivo styles
These are superb shoes.
Unbelievably light.
An inner neoprene slipper/sock can be removed to make it even lighter - comes with an attachable tongue that would protect a barefoot from the lace area.
With the slipper removed the ventilation through the hexagonal holes feels very pleasant.
I already know that you can barely tell when you've got these sort of shoes on from before when I got my Evos and after wearing them all day I was completely shocked at bed time, when I realised that I had some shoes to take off!
But, after 20 minutes of desperately trying to kid myself, I am resolved to acknowledging that they do not fit :(
I've put them next to my Terra plana Aquas and there is clearly a centimetre difference in length (Ultra is smaller) and this was confirmed when I took the inner sole from my Aqua and put it inside the Ultra.
I am a "small" size UK 11 - so 45 for Vivo - and all my shoes fit comfortably to slightly loose - these Ultras, even with...
Viva le Vivo !
I wear Vivo shoes for walking (and a little running) as ditching my regular trainers has made my posture better and has eased any back pain I had from wearing a mattress under each foot!
Two weeks ago, I was in the States where I tried on the whole gamut of minimalist shoes (Five-fingers, Evo-skins, NB, Mizuno, Fila, Nike and Adidas, et al). For the best ventilation, durability and overall barefoot feel, Vivo are the best so far. What I found with the others from limited use was that they were either too snug, had too much support so your footbed cannot spread, were too flimsy or had poor ventilation.
I started wearing Nike Free 2 years ago, then moved onto Merrell Trail Glove which are very good - and finally, Vivo.
Incidentally, I needed a 13 and my regular size is 12.
Oh, they're so easy to clean.
It's all very subjective and I guess mine is from the less-athletic standpoint.
