These had been worn (maybe just indoors) and had damage to the lace (reinforcing that they were used). Decided to keep them rather than return - they are tolerable but not great. They are loose around the ankle and feel as though they would offer little resistance to coming off if you got stuck in heavy mud. Finally, they don't offer much cushioning and so could be uncomfortable on harder ground over longer distances.
Wouldn't buy the same make/style again.

They are a little less comfortable than best Asics models but enough for off road fast walking (not running), with good grip on slightly muddy trails. Thank you to the lugs. What a difference with classic running shoes !

The outsole seems to resist small stones (no cuts on the sole, but very recent purchase). But be carefull ! Abrasion resistant rubber seems not to like wet tiled floors : if the sole or floor are wet, it slides.

First time I bought shoes with Gore-tex. Very good surprise. It does its job in wet grass. Not tested with rain.

Almost perfect
I have only one issue with these. The price was good, the waterproofing is excellent and they don't look too bad. My issue is the width. I swear by asics, but these are my first dedicated trail running shoes, and I need a wider fit. I searched for wide fit trail asics and these were only 1 of 2 styles offered. The result is they tend to feel a little tight on longer runs. Thankfully I only tend to do 5k off road in them, and the longest has been only 11k, so they haven't proven to be too much of a problem, and I haven't blistered in them as yet. Sadly though, unless asics come up with a wider fit for off-road, I may just have to switch brand.

Its Rearfoot GEL provides excellent cushioning while the SpEVA midsole adds bounce back. This model features a Rock Protection Plate, as well as a Trail Specific Outsole for optimal uphill and downhill traction on all terrain types. The upper has a minimal construction to prevent water absorption.

• Solyte 45 lasted - Enhancing the cushioning and support by utilizing Solyte in the construction of the shoe between the midsole and the upper. Adjusted in density specific to the level of support required from the running shoe.

I always but Asics but this pair is not as comfortable as past pairs. No explanation as to why. I always buy the same size and they alway sfit but this pair are really hurting my toe. They are also slippy which is not good for a trainer.
