Extremely comfortable
I've had other Asics and Mizuno trainers in the past, but always cheaper models. This is the first time I have stepped up to this price range for running shoes and I am glad I did. These are great for road use, and seem fine for light trails too. The double-heel system looks strange at first, but it feels so natural to me, fitting snug and supportively without ever feeling tight.

Five stars for now, I just hope that the sole wear and the toe box mesh hold up for a decent number of miles since I cannot afford to replace these too often.

For those that care about shoe weights - I bought these in Men's UK Size 10, and weighed them at 337g each. The Asics DS Racer 9 also in UK Size 10, weighed 245g each.

Light and fast
Early this year I was looking for lighter running shoes but still with good absorption and support. I'm a pronator and my knees surfer from this condition.

The ASICS DS-TRAINER 17 are the best running shoes I've ever had. Design is flawless (very sleek), very light, extremely comfortable. I've made some runs in very tough shock conditions and my knees did not complaint at all. I manage to take around 25 sec per km at 5-8 km competition with this shoe.

Definitely recommended.

Didn't suit me for distance
I've got Classic's and KSO FiveFingers. I've run over 1000 miles now in them (KSO and Classic) combined including two tough marathons. So I tried a pair of these. I really liked them but the flap on the arch side that the strap passes through seemed rigid compared to on the KSO and Classic which made the whole shoe seem stiffer in the sole. The result was I couldn't run the same style I was in the others. For sprinting I'd say they are probably great.

My other reservation was that the straps are fiddly to adjust in comparison to the KSO. So in the end I returned them as not suiting my purpose of distance running. On the other hand the KSO although brilliant in almost every way seem to chafe through on the strap so they aren't the perfect option either.

A different type of shoe
I wish these types of shoes with this quality had been around earlier, because it improves many aspects of your balance, control over your body and foot pains. Right now it's too cold to use them outdoors, but the feeling they give you indoors is very different - try them, I doubt you'll be disappointed. Especially people with a poor balance should benefit from this type of shoe tremendously. Sizing is normal.(Remember to get toe socks)

Great shoes, comfortable from the word go. I am a five and a half but feel I need a six in this shoe. I bought the shoe for squash and the sole is ideal for this.

Narrow shoes
A bit hard for me to give this a proper rating, as the shoes were too narrow for my feet, so I never got a chance to find out how they actually perform on court. My feet are quite wide, so that was no surprise, but a friend with narrow feet also found them too tight, so there must be something a bit different about them!

Great shoe - watch the sizing
This is an excellent shoe. Really comfortable and well made.

The only thing to watch for is the sizing. I am a size 9 normally but I had to get size 9.5 in the Merrell shoe. Some posts here said they were a size 9 but had to order size 11. I couldn't quite believe that but ordering at least a 0.5 size above would be advisable.

Apart from that you'll be able to walk in these all day and your feet will still feel good.

MERRELL MOAB GORE-TEX TRAINERS
I first bought a pair of these trainers back in 2010 and found them to be very well made and comfortable to wear even after a long walk. So I have just purchased another pair. I guess you get what you pay for but they do seem to be good value for money. The only thing I would add is always buy a full size up and not a half size from you current shoe size and you will find they fit like a glove plus allowing you to wear a thicker pair of socks.
