Good Shoe / Poor lace system
This is my second pair of Salomon trail shoes.... the first being very good. This second pair are equally fine, however, be aware of Salomon's 'Quick-lace-system' - it doesn't always work... On the right shoe of the XA Pro 3D shoe it will not stay tight.... after only a few hundred yards the thing loosens off... very frustrating. Have contacted the supplier (SportsShoes) re the issue.... still waiting for response / outcome

Been running in snow mud and rain, feet wear comfortable and dry, would recommend. Not to keen on the lace sticking out unless you tuck it in a pocket in the tongue which i didn't realise was there at first.

The first rule of buying running shoes is ask you yourself "what is my foot type, what do I want them for, what do I want them to do for me".

The crossmax neutral are, as they say, a neutral cushioned shoe ideal for people with high arches and for those who under pronate.
They are an all rounder, a typical door to trail, they don't specialise in anything.
If you want to run all day in the high mountains and fells through peat, bogs and tussocks then buy yourself some proper fell running shoes.
If you want to run from your front door, onto some light trail, then through some muddy forest tracks, up into the hills, then onto some hard compact foot paths then back home again without using your car then this is what these shoes are for.
The thing they do excel at is high mileage, they ideal for ultra running where mixed terrains are the norm.

5 stars for theses trainers, just started to trail run after road running for years. The transition from Tarmac to trail is smooth, great grip in the mud and no slipping as you do with normal trainers. Great support for the ankles, and the lacing system is genius.
Would recommend to runners looking for a first trail running pair of shoes. Brilliant if fancy a road run also

Pub smart, waterproof, superb snow traction, if your inclined a little yomp up Snowdon, they tackled Dartmoor in January with snow and stuff everywhere, I never bothered with my heavier leather boots! I really do find them mega comfortable, they have taken over from trainers as day to day dossing about wear.
I would order half size above your normal shoe size.

High quality shoes with a technical look and feel
This shoe is well designed in every aspect. I can't see why it should only work off road, it makes me run and accelerate much faster on concrete than my old pair of trainers. This comes by the Contragrip and OS Tendon features in the sole. They have a very breathable body and a unique lacing system. Only four stars because the yellow of the sole is not exactly matching the yellow of the upper shoe, sole is neon yellow while upper shoe is bright yellow. Minor difference, but not ideal.

Six months in
Six months and still using these trainers- quality product would definitely recommend these to anyone wanting a comfortable running shoe. Use them on road and scrambling with no problem
