Good Shoe / Poor lace system
This is my second pair of Salomon trail shoes.... the first being very good. This second pair are equally fine, however, be aware of Salomon's 'Quick-lace-system' - it doesn't always work... On the right shoe of the XA Pro 3D shoe it will not stay tight.... after only a few hundred yards the thing loosens off... very frustrating. Have contacted the supplier (SportsShoes) re the issue.... still waiting for response / outcome

Great shoe - watch the sizing
This is an excellent shoe. Really comfortable and well made.

The only thing to watch for is the sizing. I am a size 9 normally but I had to get size 9.5 in the Merrell shoe. Some posts here said they were a size 9 but had to order size 11. I couldn't quite believe that but ordering at least a 0.5 size above would be advisable.

Apart from that you'll be able to walk in these all day and your feet will still feel good.

MERRELL MOAB GORE-TEX TRAINERS
I first bought a pair of these trainers back in 2010 and found them to be very well made and comfortable to wear even after a long walk. So I have just purchased another pair. I guess you get what you pay for but they do seem to be good value for money. The only thing I would add is always buy a full size up and not a half size from you current shoe size and you will find they fit like a glove plus allowing you to wear a thicker pair of socks.

My initial impressions about the shoe are positive. It is a well balanced light shoe and the design is good and it appears sturdy. The colour choice blend is understated and the toe protector is a useful part of this shoe.It hugs the foot nicely. It is a bit of a shame that for a shoe that is priced @MRP of Pounds 100/- ( I bought it for around 83 thanks to Amazon) attention has not been paid to the leather rubber interphase with the frayed edges showing. This finish could have been certainly improved. Overall a nice design and a comfortable shoe.The Gortex lining would improve the breathing of the foot and I find the Ortholite design of the insole to be very comfortable. I would recommend it as a purchase.

Production fault
Nice looking trainers, however had to return them because 2nd time worn ,toe part of rubber sole wasn't glued properly and peeled open exposing what looked like talcum powder inside.Glue doesn't stick to talc.Got a full refund though without any hassle.

Robust, well made waterproof hiking shoes but watch the sizing!
This is a very robust, well made hiking shoe with the rigidity in the sole and upper you expect from something intended for heavy use. Perhaps under the circumstances the colour choice is not ideal. Unfortunately, even in a size 8 the shoe is too narrow, even when wearing an ultra thin skiing sock for trying on. I don't think Merrell have taken into account the intended use of the shoe, otherwise they would have thought about making the fit wider. There's no chance of wearing these with a cushioned hiking sock. There's also very little prospect of the upper giving with wear so if you fancy these shoes I'd think about trying a size up. I found the same problem with the Merrell Chameleon arc wind GTX shoes, although they had a bit more scope as the mesh panels had some give just in the right places, accommodating the little toe and any potential bumps on the big toe. All in all I'm really disappointed as these shoes would be fantastic for Winter walking.

these shoes are great, and even allow me to continue walking, without pain, in all weathers with a Chronic tendon problem. Were recommended to me by a doctor, and have never regretted buying them. Points to notice, sizeing is a little neat, and I would always recommend buying a size up, and you'll definatly need one if you wear hiking socks, the old vibram sole could be a little slippy in the wet, if walking on smoth surfaces, (haven't used my new ones with the new sole in the wet yet, as I bought quite a light colour - but the fit is so good I haven't returned them)The new sole is fine on dry or rough conditions, and I'll update as soon as I wear them in the wet. Only not a 5star as I think some people will be effected by the small fit. You could always try merrel shoes elsewhere to get your 'Merrell' size, and just order that from now on, as I've found the fit consistant.

Excellent shoes, fabulous price!
These are really great shoes and I got them at a brilliant price. Very comfortable, good grip, gortex. You may need to buy half a size bigger than your normal size though.
